Not so lazy anymore??

Mallory is starting to show some interest in going somewhere - she sticks her bottom up in the air and gets as high up as she can on her hands. She definitely hasn't figured out how to get on her knees, though, so it seems like it will be a while before she figures the whole crawling thing out... Look at all that hair we're getting, too!

Some other cute pics I got of the kiddies...

My first digital page

This was an exercise in using Photoshop, not creativity. What I mean is that I "scraplifted" the layout from the gallery on heatheranndesigns.com so that I could concentrate on HOW to do things instead of worrying about what the final product was going to look like. For the second page of the layout, I will do more of my own thing... I was just proud that I was able to do this! I have learned a lot, but there is SO much more to learn. What I always find to be true, though, is that once you have the basics down, it is so much easier to learn new things than when you are starting from scratch. Also, thanks to my parents, I have a printer that is able to print this entire page for me on a 12x12 sheet. So, I can print it out and just pop it into my scrapbook! I don't think I will ever give up traditional scrapbooking because I love ribbon and embellishments too much, but I love that I will be able to sit down at the computer and work on something without dragging all my "stuff" out.

Brady's first game

Brady's first tball game was yesterday. He was SO excited and couldn't wipe the smile off his face! I'll tell ya - one thing he is not is modest. He's been talking all week about how he's a good player and can run fast, hit the ball well, and knows how to field the ball, too. It's a good thing in general - of course I want him to be confident in himself, but I think we'll have to be careful to make sure he's not TOO full of himself...LOL! He was especially happy to find out he would be wearing maroon and white this season and that his team would be named the Astros - can't ask for more than that!
Drew, on the other hand, was quite upset that he couldn't play with Brady. We made it through the first inning ok - with the help of some snacks. But, by the top of the second he started crying because he wanted to be out on the field. He was crying so loud that Bryan could hear him out by second base. So, I carried him over there and Daddy let him hang out with him on the field for the rest of the game. I'm not sure if we will get a repeat of this every week - the game was at 11 am yesterday, so I know he was already getting tired. Maybe at an 8 a.m. game, it won't be such a big deal... we'll see!

I dared the impossible...

I took all three kids by myself to the mall to attempt an Easter bunny pic, knowing full well that Drew wanted no part of it. I tried to prepare him - we showed him Brady's bunny pic from last year and went through a list of bribes should he choose to sit on the bunny's lap. He said no every time we asked him, so I didn't have high hopes. When we made it to the mall, we went over and saw the bunny first before getting in line. Drew didn't cry (which was an improvement over Santa at xmas) so I decided to see what would happen. At first, he wouldn't get near him so Mallory and Brady sat up there and took a few pics. The GREAT thing was that there was no line, so the two girls working there were very accomodating and encouraged Drew to get up there. After a while, he let me put him next to Brady (not touching the bunny, of course) and then we tried like hell to get him to smile. He was trying SO hard not to, but he finally gave in when Brady started tickling him. Needless to say, I am thrilled with this pic! His reward was to pick out a cookie - he chose chocolate chip with m&m's and picked off all the m&m's to eat before starting in on the cookie. I asked for a bite and he literally gave me the smallest crumb ever... not enough to even taste what kind of cookie it was...LOL. Brady was nice enough to offer me a piece of his, though.

Pretty girl

This what we're wearing in the "outfit of the day" pic, but I'm not happy with how much smaller the picture is now that I changed the layout... too bad I don't know how to fix it!

Drew, Drew, Drew (tsk,tsk,tsk)

I tried again yesterday to put Drew down for a nap. He wouldn't go for it, even though he was clearly exhausted. He spent an hour in his crib talking, jumping up and down, crying, etc. After I let him out, Brady came to tell me he had fallen asleep in the playroom literally ten minutes later...

After he slept about an hour, I decided to go ahead and get a picture. It did wake him up, and he moved to the big chair to watch a video. I don't think he made it even a minute it before he fell asleep again...
This morning he threw a fit on the way in to school. We have started a new thing where we just drop Brady off in the halway - we don't walk into the room with him anymore. The teachers are trying to get them ready for kindergarten and have them put all their own things away now and pack them up when it's time to go home. Anyway, today Drew decided that if I didn't go into Brady's room, then I shouldn't go into his either. So, I ended up dragging him in as I'm trying to push Mallory's stroller. We may have to go back to going into Brady's room!! Some battles are not worth fighting, although I'll give it another time or two before I decide...

Portrait Party Pics

Tasha has posted a few of the pics from our party yesterday - go to www.homeshade.com and scroll down to her "mini session sneak peek" entry on March 21. You will see Brady and Drew at the top, and Mallory is the last pic at the bottom.

The last few days

On Thursday, Bryan's parents came and spent the day. Mary and I ended up taking the boys to see Bolt in the afternoon - Brady wanted to go to the park, but I knew Drew shouldn't. He had a pretty high fever the day before and was still feeling under the weather, so I suggested the movie instead. Of course, the boys also got to spend some time with Grandpa. Brady practiced his casting out in the front yard with him, and they played some baseball, too. Bryan was actually pitching to him when he hit one of the whiffle balls and cracked it in half. I can't BEGIN to tell you how excited he was!! He just couldn't believe that he could have hit it hard enough to crack it...

On Friday, Bryan had the day off and spent some time working on the garden with the boys. Brady was chomping at the bit to get out there and plant stuff - they had bought some seeds and gotten them started inside the house so he knew they were going to need to be planted soon. I don't think Drew really cared what they were doing - just so long as he didn't get left out!

Don't you love the upside down glasses??

Working hard with Daddy

Today was our portrait party with Tasha. Our session didn't go quite as smoothly as I hoped, but probably about what I expected. Drew is SO tired from being sick and his lack of naps that he's not in a good mood a lot of the time. Throw on top of that the fact that he's two, and it's not the best mix! He wasn't totally uncooperative, but did let us know he didn't have to do anything he didn't want to... I think my choice of taking the pics at the park wasn't the best for Mallory. She doesn't spend too much time outside, so she was too fascinated with her surroundings to bother looking at the camera or smiling. However, Tasha was nice enough to offer to try again once we got back to the house later, so we definitely got a cute one of her out front with a petti on. I'll have to wait and see if she can piece together anything good with the three of them.

That sneaky leprachaun

A sneaky leprachaun visited Brady's classroom several times last week. He talked about it nonstop and, of course, reported all the naughy things he did - moved their lunchboxes, went to the potty and didn't flush, put the chairs on the table, etc. He's asked me SEVERAL times whether the leprachaun would visit the house and if we could put out a trap to catch him. When he asked again this morning, I thought it would be fun to have him visit. So, I called Julie and had her swing by the house on her way out. She scattered all of Brady's underwear on the floor - he was excited that the leprachaun had visited but wasn't thrilled that he had to clean it up :)

This is what I discovered this afternoon... it should have been Drew, considering his lack of sleep the past few weeks!

7 Months Old

I discovered Mallory can now sit up on her own for a brief amount of time...

Here she is trying a piece of banana - she made a huge mess, but loved it!

Hanging out with her big brother

At seven months, Mallory still loves to eat and now loves to talk, too. She was really enjoying her baby food until she got sick last week, and I am now phasing it back in. She wasn't eating much, so we had gone back to just bottles. Her favorite is bananas, and she is like Drew as a baby in that she doesn't care much for peaches. She has also had apple juice and liked it. As far as talking goes, she says "baba" and "mama" plus all the other baby talk she's been doing for the last couple months. Her favorite play position is now on her tummy, although she rolls around a bunch. Not from one side of the room to the other, but enough that she is rarely in the same spot as where I left her if I leave the room and come back. We are still all over the map for naps - often she only sleeps an hour or hour and a half all day, but on a good day she might have a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon. At night, she goes down around 8-8:30 and has been sleeping until around 5 a.m. for the past couple of weeks (although I hate to even put it in writing!)

New skills

This layout is to show off one of the new things I learned in my photoshop class - leaving some color in a picture and making the rest black and white (pic in the pink onesie on the left side and in the pink dress on the right). I was very excited to find out we would be learning that - I really like my teacher and because he has been teaching the class for many years and uses photoshop himself on a regular basis, I feel like everything we are learning is really relevant.

FYI - click on the layout pics to see them bigger

Update on the kids

Drew and Brady were both back at school today. Brady went back yesterday - he had a slight fever this weekend, but never got any of the g.i. stuff like Drew and Mallory. Drew is feeling better, but he's still very tired because of his napping issues... I woke him up when I picked him up at school today, and he cried all the way home. I had to carry him down the hallway and out to the car while I tried pushing Mallory's stroller - not because he couldn't walk, but because he was in such a foul mood he wouldn't. I know I've complained before about how chipper Brady is in the morning when he gets up (at an ungodly hour), but now I take that back... I'd much rather tolerate the talking my ear off then the moaning and groaning I now get from Drew. But, I digress. Mallory is still a bit under the weather. She's not eating near as well as usual, and I can't seem to find a diaper she won't leak out of. I finally got smart today and started putting a lap pad down in her rocking chair, swing, etc. just in case. However, she is still in good spirits, so I appreciate that.

My Weekend...

has not been relaxing as I would have liked! Bryan had to work yesterday and today - 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Yes, I feel bad for him, but more sorry for myself...LOL :) Drew has not been napping at home for the past week or so. Yes, I've tried!! He was in his crib two hours yesterday afternoon and didn't sleep a wink. Mallory has been doing better at night, but her days are still anyone's guess. Yesterday she slept an hour all day. I thought today maybe I better plan on getting out of the house or at least head to the park for a while. But, that was before Drew threw up this morning. I knew Mallory wasn't feeling quite right, so I guess it wasn't too surprising. Of course, it's only been like two weeks since they both had some kind of stomach bug, so that stinks. I'd rather them get sick during spring break when they don't have school! For him to miss school the week before the break is just cruel... I'm getting ahead of myself, though - maybe I'll be lucky and he'll get better as the day goes on (I won't hold my breath on that one).

These days are the ones that make it hard for me to stick to weight watchers - when I'd like nothing better than to grab a big handful of the peanut m&m's on the counter. But, I won't! I'm determined to fit into at least some of my old clothes by the time Vegas rolls around.

Favorite layout

This is probably my favorite layout that I've done so far... it seems like I've had my stuff out forever! But, I've got around 4-5 layouts I want to finish before putting it away, so the end is in sight. Now that I'm learning photoshop, I want time to play with editing pics and using it to scrapbook digitally.

I wanted these photos to sit side-by-side but couldn't make it work. If anyone knows how, pass it along!

Sippy cup

Mallory tried out a sippy cup with apple juice yesterday. Not surprisingly, she liked it! I need to get some of those $1 cups from Walmart that are really soft on the top - they don't last forever but I've found they are good for learning in the beginning. These disposable ones are, too, because there's no valve but you don't want them carried around the house for that very reason.

Can you see the resemblance between Drew and Mallory here??

Birthday pics

Here we are trying to get a decent pic... I think we took about 15, none of which are spectacular! Can you see who was the most uncooperative??

I don't think I opened any of my own presents...

Happy Birthday to me!

For those of you that don't keep track, I'm 34 today. It sounds a little old - mainly because that means I'll be 35 next year... but, things are good, and there's a lot I'm looking forward to in the next few months. I love having a baby around the house again, and I'm excited about our portrait party coming up with Tasha. Then, Easter will be around the corner and so will my trip to Vegas!

I was just saying to Paula that it's funny how the older you get, the less it seems like your birthday. For example, the laundry still needs to be done, the dishwasher still needs to be unloaded, and the kids still don't listen all the time! Oh, well... Bryan did send me flowers today. He had planned to take the day off, but the refinery didn't cooperate. Hopefully he will get home early enough for us to go out for dinner. I promised Brady dessert at the restaurant because I asked him not to make me anything - he and Daddy usually make cupcakes or something else sweet, but I opted not to have it around the house this year since I'm working on taking off my extra baby weight! I'm sure that Mexican food I had for lunch today was low-cal...

Finding her voice

Mallory has really started "talking" this past week - here is her first real sound...

Lazy Girl

I've decided that Mallory is a bit of a lazy girl. She's content to lay around and maybe roll over from time to time. She's not all that interested in sitting up on her own or trying to go anywhere. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining! I would like her to sit up, but I have no desire for her to start crawling anytime soon... Here she is trying to get her balance with the help of the boppy - the last pic is about the best she could do and only for about 5 seconds!
