Indiana Jones is BIG in our house these days. It started with Brady seeing the commercial for an Indiana Jones wii game. He got the game from Santa, and ever since then, the boys talk about Indy nonstop. We have let Brady watch three of the four movies, and the boys are always pretending to be different characters they know from the game or movies. The other day they were making their own hats and bags out of paper to dress up as Indy, so I got online and found these hat and foam whip sets. Needless to say, they were a big hit! They have also pooled their money together to purchase an Indiana Jones lego set. Brady is already planning to be Indy for Halloween and to have an Indy themed birthday party, but considering he is getting wii lego star wars in a couple weeks, I'm sure things will have changed by then...

The last mention of xmas... for a while!

My last christmas layout - all digital, meaning I did all the work on the computer and will now print it out to put in my scrapbook. I worked from a template which is a good thing, but clearly has its disadvantages! When there are twenty something elements on the page, it's tricky keeping everything straight and there are A LOT of choices to make.

Brady brought this home from school the other day - priceless! Remember to click on the pic to see it bigger...

Am I stylish or what??

Late night, early morning

Bryan's oldest brother came into town yesterday afternoon, so we headed to Bill & Mary's to meet him and go out to dinner. We didn't make it home last night until 10:45 p.m. Brady and Drew fell asleep in the car, but Mallory did not. You want to guess what time they got up this morning?? The boys were up by 6:30 a.m. and Mallory by 7. Crazy!

I was pleasantly surprised by how well Mallory took to her uncle Marc. She is hesitant with new people and hasn't seen him since she was a baby. To my surprise, she was crawling into his lap within five minutes of him being there.

Last night was the first time we have seen Mary since her surgery (besides Bryan visiting in the hospital). She looks good and is doing well. She's already graduated from her walker to a cane and is hoping to be driving again soon. Of course, the kids were happy to see her and look forward to when she can get down and play with them again.

I'm marking 2009 off my to do list! With the exception of one digital layout, I'm through scrapping last year. Go, me!! I intend to sit down and count the number of pages I've finished since dragging everything out in January, but I've yet to actually do it, so we'll see :)

A few pages from November -

A Bug

Brady: Mom, there's a bug in my room, can you get it?

Me: No, you get it. (knowing that it couldn't be anything too big or he would have come screaming like a little

Brady: Well, I think it's a bug. Let me go check...

Brady: I think it's a bug, and I think it's dead.

Me: Why do you not know whether or not it's really a bug?

Brady: I would need a magnifying glass to know for sure.

Me: Well, then I'm definitely not getting it. Here's a napkin.(trying not to roll on the ground with laughter)

A minute later -

Brady: Drew's picking it up. (smiling)

Me: Why are you smiling? That means Drew is braver than you, and he's only three.

Brady had no comment for that :)

18 months

I took Mallory in yesterday for her 18 month checkup. She was NOT I never had that trouble with the boys, so I was a little surprised by her behavior. She wanted no part of her head or length being measured, and she was thrashing around so bad on the scale, I thought the nurse wouldn't be able to get a weight at all. She weighed in at almost 25 lb. - who knows how accurate that is?! It is reasonable, though, considering she weighed 22 lb. at her one year appointment. She was 32 inches long. Drew has just reached 36 inches, so she may be closing in on him soon!

What new things is Mallory doing? We are still hearing new words all the time. She started saying Drew's name the other day ("dew") and "banana" and "blankie" are ones I've heard for the first time this week. She is also discovering where more of her body parts are (eyes, ears, mouth, teeth, nose, etc.) and is calling a few of them by name. The cutest thing (in my opinion, of course!) is that anytime lego rock band is mentioned or turned on, she starts singing We Will Rock You. Her version is "we, we, rock." She dances around and loves to play on the drums that go with the game.

She nods or shakes her head with great enthusiasm when asked a question, esp. if it involves a drink or snack - that's my girl! She's still getting into trouble all the time and would much rather get into Mommy's things rather than play with her own toys. She throws herself down on the ground and displays her displeasure whenever necessary :) She is becoming a pickier eater but still loves pasta, bananas, any type of cracker, and her white grape juice. Pizza is definitely her new favorite! Her hair is getting much longer and it's getting hard to keep it out of her face. A bow helps, but only for whatever length of time she is willing to wear it!

Valentine pics

Enjoying their chocolates...

Playing our new game - it is VERY difficult to keep Mallory away from the drums!

Notice the cap on Drew - he has been living in it for probably close to two weeks now. He wears it everywhere, including taking it to bed.

Happy Valentines!

I only sent out a few of these valentine cards, so figured I should share online :) This pic is from our session with Tasha, which is why Mallory isn't very smiley. For what she had to work with, I think Tasha did as well as she could have!

We had a low key day today. The kids enjoyed their $1 box of chocolates and playing their new wii lego rock band - I'll post some pics tomorrow. Bryan took Brady to the store and picked me up a couple balloons and some chocolate covered cashews and coffee beans. Let me tell you - I don't even like coffee, but those chocolate covered beans rock!!

Stingray Soccer

Some pics from our fall soccer season...
You gotta love the one of Drew crying - which was the way we saw him the most for the first half of the season :)

We headed over to Brady's school this afternoon for his Valentines party.

Mallory was happy to eat a cookie with pink sprinkles.
Drew was happy to eat a cookie or two and some ice cream!
After looking through their valentines, the class played musical chairs. I was surprised by the 4-5 kids that were more interested in getting out than finding a chair - not Brady! He's in it to win it!! Doesn't matter what the game is...

Bryan headed over this afternoon to visit his mom at the hospital. A few issues have come up, so she'll be there longer than originally expected. Things are looking up, but she definitely has some physical therapy to do before she leaves. I'm sure I'll know more tonight after Bryan gets home.

It's raining, again!

This is the second thursday in a row that Brady was supposed to have t-ball practice but couldn't because of the rain. They ended up having it last Saturday, but I didn't even tell him because we had pictures to do instead and I knew he would be really disappointed. So, we're on again for this Saturday. Hopefully it won't be a mess out there by then!

Not a lot to write about this week - seems like I haven't accomplished much. I'm waiting on a new cartridge for my printer, so printing pics is at a standstill (which means I haven't done any scrapbooking). I did have fun shopping with Brandie yesterday and bought a new outfit for going out on Saturday night. We don't have any plans for Valentine's Day itself, although I just ordered lego rock band for the wii along with drums and a microphone. I was hoping it might all get here this weekend so we could give it to the kids for Valentine's. I'm not holding my breath on that one, though. All three things are coming from different places, so who knows?

Bryan's mom had her hip surgery on Tuesday and is supposed to get out of the hospital on Friday. The surgery itself went well, and she had a good afternoon yesterday doing her physical therapy so hopefully things will continue in that direction.

Not my usual Monday

My plan today was to take all the kids to school (love mondays!!) and then go shopping for something to wear this weekend when we go out to dinner. However, it was not to be. Mallory has been running a fever off and on for several days. She felt warm to me again yesterday afternoon, so I was good and kept her home today. She would have been fine at school but I was trying to do my part and not pass on whatever she has! So, the only thing I managed today was to sign up Drew and Mallory for school next year. I came home, expecting Mallory to take a good nap this afternoon and at least get an hour in scrapbooking - that way, I could say I did something productive! Unfortunately, she decided she didn't feel like taking a nap while the house was getting cleaned, so she slept for 5 minutes.... no exaggeration, literally five minutes!

Valentine Pics

Our session this morning didn't go as well as I hoped... notice I said hope, not expected! Let me start by saying the boys were up at 5:55 a.m. and Mallory got up several times during the night because of her congestion and cough. So, the day did not have a great start.

Drew was the problem at home. He started crying immediately when I reminded him pictures were today - he wanted NO part of going. Then, he started to settle down a bit until he realized he was going to have to wear a tie. It didn't matter that Brady already had his on - he was past the point of seeing reason. With the promise of a movie in the car and ice cream after pics, he finally settled down by the time we left. Thank god I opted to get dressed at home and risk being wrinkled rather than trying to get dressed once we got to Tasha's.

Mallory was the problem for the actual session. It was a new place and new people, and I'm sure the fact that she isn't feeling well didn't help. We spent almost all of our time trying to get her to stop crying. I think Tasha got a few shots where she had a half-smile - that's the best we could do. Of course, I was also irriated because she wanted no part of her bow or headband. The frustrating part is that she asked for a bow to wear around the house this morning and again in the car. So, why she decided she wanted no part of it for the pictures, I'll never understand!

The boys did take some cute shots by themselves before Mallory got involved. But, of course, I was hoping to get a shot of all three. We'll see what Tasha can piece together!

Sesame Street

Drew moaned and groaned the whole way over to Reliant - he did NOT want to go see Elmo, he wanted to just stay home. Too bad, kid!! I guess I was a little surprised by his reaction because he does enjoy watching Elmo's World, but at the same time, this behavior is not unusual. Once he gets his mind set one way, there's no changing it.

We were as high up as you could get, but there were really no bad seats. Mallory was quite excited to have her own seat and didn't want us touching

Drew's sour face
Trying to tickle a smile out of him! Once the show started, he was still antsy but I definitely caught him enjoying the show, too. He did keep asking when it was time to leave, though. I think Mallory watched more of the show then he did.
Let's get this party started!
Definitely Mallory's favorite part - Elmo's World
As expected, I didn't get any good pics on stage because of the lighting. But, I still took a few anyway - to show Brady, if nothing else.

Bargain shopper

I ran into Kohl's yesterday to look for a pair of pants for Mallory - it seemed like they had a lot of winter stuff 60-80% that hadn't been too picked over yet, so I decided I should head back today when I had more time. I ended up getting 20 items (17 shirts/shorts/pjs, 2 sets of underwear, one pair of shoes) for $172! It was quite the bargain considering I saved over $200 off the original prices. I think the only things that weren't at least 50% off were the underwear and shoes, but everything else was 50% off or more - most of what I bought was actually new spring stuff, so I was surprised all of it was on sale, too. Then, I also had a coupon for an additional 15% off. Yea, me! I earned $30 of Kohl's cash (basically free money during the next week), so I'll be back there again soon...

Thursday, February 4, 2010

It's been a fairly uneventful week - which is good! Mallory has a bit of a fever, but she doesn't seem to feel too bad... maybe a new tooth is to blame. She is a little bit congested, but we all have been in the last few weeks, so that's not surprising. Tomorrow, we are taking her and Drew to see Imagine 1,2,3 with Elmo so I'm looking forward to seeing their reaction. We haven't really sat down and explained where we are going to Drew, so they are both pretty clueless. Then, Saturday we are heading to Tasha's house for our valentine mini-session. I'm sure Bryan was thrilled yesterday when I told him he needed to tag along :) I just hope Mallory cooperates! She's a little leery of new people (or ones she hasn't seen in a while), so hopefully she will warm up pretty quick. She has started to ask for bows for her hair, so that's a plus! I'm not saying she's keeping them in indefinitely, but she knows she looks cute with them on, and that's why she's started

Here are a couple pages I've finished in the last week -
A little simpler than my usual work, but I really like the way it turned out
Saw this idea in a magazine and thought I needed to copy it!
Of course, I needed more space for pictures, so I did this underneath -
