Happy Halloween!

Mallory wanted NO PART of carving pumpkins.  I figured she probably wouldn't want to stick her hand inside, but she didn't want to be near the pumpkins once we opened them up, and didn't want to take a picture with one either. LOL

We let the boys carve their own smaller pumpkins this year. Drew still needed a lot of help, but Brady pretty much carved his on his own once I help him sketch out the design. He thought that was awesome!

As usual, Brady asked for a scary face for our big pumpkin. I tried to find one that looked scary, but not too scary for Mallory!

Batman, the Joker, and Catwoman getting ready to hit the town!  Mallory did NOT like Brady with his makeup on.  We've known for a while that she is scared of his joker mask, but I thought she would be better with the makeup. Apparently not! She watched me do the makeup, but once he was done, she wouldn't get near him.  The only way she would take a picture was standing next to Drew - too funny!

Iron Man joined us trick-or-treating :)

Looks like the Joker here, doesn't he?

Mallory left her mask on the whole time we were out.  I think she actually forgot she was wearing it.  When we sat down to go through the candy, I suggested she take it off, and she was happy to do so.

I was a little surprised how well Mallory did trick-or-treating.  We did practice at the house a few times, but I thought she would be a little more shy just because of all the strangers (and possibly strange dogs, too).  She didn't want to be at the front of the pack when the door was opened, but she chimed in "trick or treat" with the rest of them and was very good about saying thank you.   She also didn't try to open all her candy while we were out, so that was good.  I did offer to carry her pail (it was getting heavy towards the end), but she clearly objected to that.  Her response was basically "Hell, no!" but in two year old language.  She got irritated with the boys for getting too far ahead of her, too.  She kept shouting at them, "Wait for me! Wait for me!"  So cute.

Zoo with the girls

I was just commenting to Karen that I've really been loving Saturdays for the past few months.  My favorite online store releases new products on Saturdays - that is great itself, but what is even better is they are on sale for that day only.  My purchase today was the kit I used to make this layout.  If you are curious, here is the layout I used as my inspiration - "trouble"

Me & Mallory

It's pretty peaceful around the house tonight because Mallory and I are on our own.  We went out for an early dinner and took a stroll around the neighborhood.  I considered going to the park but decided against it because her knee is still healing from the spill she took last weekend.

Bryan and his dad took the boys camping, along with Brady's friend Zack.  They will be gone until tomorrow night.  I've decided what I am enjoying most about their absence (other than time with Mallory) is a bathroom that doesn't smell like pee. LOL  Normally, I can clean it and it is literally an hour before it smells again.  I think that just goes along with having boys!

Zack spent the night here last night, too. Julie and Jeff are looking for a house in St. Louis this weekend.  They are set to move the first weekend of December :(  We are sad, but Brady was very excited about Zack having a sleepover, even more so when he found out he would also be going camping.  Only problem is, Drew now wants to know why we can't chocolate donuts for breakfast every morning!

Halloween cuties

Showing off her kitty cat shirt - I bought a cute bow to go with it, but the bottlecap with Hello Kitty refuses to stay attached to the bow!

Apparently, Mallory had a fun time at school today showing everyone the "puppy on her hiney." LOL

This afternoon we worked on cookies for Mallory's class tomorrow and also on cupcakes for Drew's harvest party.

I tried to let Mallory help with the sprinkles... apparently I should have stuck to just letting her do the m&m's.  The cookie sheet is full of green sprinkles, I don't think many actually made it on the cookies.

Celebrating our 12th anniversary... kid-free!

Bryan's parents were kind enough to watch the kids Saturday night so Bryan and I could spend a night away.  We ended up back in College Station.  We did a little Aggie shopping, went to the wine bar at Messina Hof, saw a movie, and went to a late dinner.  The next morning, we ate at one of the places we used to frequent when we were students.   As always, it was nice to be away, but the time went by really quickly!  As we were leaving Grandma's Sunday afternoon, Mallory was crying because she didn't want to go and Drew was crying because he forgot his "walnuts" (not sure exactly what they were, said he found them at the park) at Grandma's house.  It was like we'd never been gone. LOL

Zoo boo

I headed to the zoo today with Mallory and Drew.  Ideally, I would have liked to take all three kiddos, but the timing wasn't going to work out. Since Brady had his field trip today, it seemed like a good day to go with the others.  I also took Brandie with me - it's so nice to have another adult to talk to and help wrangle the kids!  They were excited to get dressed up in their costumes, and Mallory got LOTS of compliments on hers :)  Everyone seemed to understand she was cat woman, so that made me happy!

Many of the cats were moving around today - Mallory is looking at one on the ledge.  Love her tail... Mallory's, that is!

Mallory decided she wanted to hold Drew's hand.  He didn't want any part of it, but I convinced him to go along with her for a minute or two.

Taking a break to eat some loot from trick-or-treating - Mallory didn't want to wear her mask just walking around, but I convinced her to wear it when she was trick-or-treating. She seemed to think that was a fair compromise.

Decorating a pumpkin to take home

A couple birthday pics

Not surprisingly, Brady was thrilled with his new nintendo ds!

Happy Anniversary to me!

I ordered this necklace from Jessica at DIY Studio (etsy, of course!).  I was looking around for things to add to my xmas wish list and happened upon it.  I decided that there were too many choices to make to put it on my list (we all know how much of a perfectionist I am)... plus, I wanted it sooner than later! LOL  I had planned on ordering a new photo purse which I was going to call my anniversary present, so I scrapped that idea and went with this necklace instead.

We actually ended up changing out the larger beads to pearls, but those pics weren't nearly as good because she took them at night.  The original necklace listed has colored beads - I really debated about keeping it that way, but in the end, decided it was more important to be able to wear it with as much in my closet as possible.  How awesome is it that there are two different sides? And, the chain itself is totally adjustable, too. I can't wait to see it in person!

A great game!

Not only did Brady have a great baseball game this afternoon, but I got to really enjoy it because I left Mallory and Drew at home with a babysitter.  He got a hit every time he was at the plate.  The best player on the team happened to bat after him, so he also scored three runs :)  I'm not sure why I didn't think to take the camera... It would have been nice to at least get a shot of him in the catcher's uniform and sliding home.  Although, I will say his sliding needs some work.  He waited too long and ended up sliding past the plate, so that he was forced to reach back and touch it with his hand - too funny!

Fall Festival

We headed over to the fall festival at the church this morning - Drew and Mallory were excited to see Brooke and baby Kate (she's not actually a baby anymore, but I suspect that Mallory will continue to call her that for a while!)

I rode the train with Mallory and Drew before Karen and family got there.  As usual, it got crowded pretty quickly, but Drew and Brooke managed to get a turn.

I loathe sno cones right now. LOL  They are so messy, and Mallory is so stubborn - not a good combination!

Quick update

Drew seems to finally be feeling better.  Brady is at my parents' house tonight and tomorrow, and Bryan will be brewing for the day. So, I am planning on taking Drew and Mallory to the fall festival tomorrow morning at the church where they go to school.  Should be fun... I hope!  Depends on what kind of mood everyone is in - especially when it is time to leave! LOL

Poor guy!

Drew has picked up some kind of stomach bug - it could definitely be worse, but he's sick of going to the potty and is sad that he won't be able to go to school again tomorrow :(  I'm hoping he will feel a lot better in the morning - he needs to be symptom free for 24 hours before he can go back to school.  Of course, my next concern is whether anyone else is going to get sick!  Brady is going to the aggie game this weekend with my parents - it would be a disaster if he got sick because he's been looking forward to it since the season started.

Brady asked me tonight how many more days until his birthday - he wasn't thrilled with the answer :)  Frankly, I'm surprised we haven't been talking about it daily for the last month.  I guess school, karate, baseball, and the prospect of his BFF Zack moving have kept his mind on other things...

Finally, another hit!

The last two baseball games were pretty painful because Brady struck out every time he was at the plate.  It's so frustrating, considering we started the season with two hits!  I didn't have high hopes for our game Sunday, but he had a good game.  He got his hands on the ball several times out in the field, and finally got a hit his last time up.  Actually, I think everyone on the team except one kid got a hit, so that was good.  I don't expect it to happen again, some were definitely flukes! LOL

Today on the way home from school, I listened to one of those conversations between the kids where I wish I could remember every single word to get it in writing...  Brady and Zack were discussing bad words.  I have no idea why, but I didn't want to interrupt their conversation to ask.  This is what I could make out from the front seat:  the bad words are...

"s" - shut up, stupid
"b" - butt, booty
"f" - freak
"a" - they both agreed there isn't one
"d" - Zack told one to Brady and said it was the "worst of all," but I couldn't hear it and Brady couldn't remember it later! When he said the word, Brady said "what is that??"

So funny!  I need to get Julie to ask Zack about that "d" word...

Recent layout

Here are the two pages I did for our trip to Palm Beach in August - I purchased a digital kit and then used the templates I'm showing you.  I like using these types of templates because they are great "as is", but you can also add things and move them around as you like.  They are tedious to work with though!

Fun at the Park

Bryan took Brady to the Astros game last night - needless to say, Drew was a little upset about not going along.  But, we headed over to the park after dinner and met Julie and Zack there. Drew was definitely excited about the prospect of playing with Zack without Brady...LOL.  He is also thrilled that he got invited to a birthday party next week at Chuck E. Cheese - even if he doesn't really play with the classmate that invited him, we're still going!  It's hard when Brady is getting invitations left and right and Drew is just getting old enough to have his own friends :)

Zack was having a grand time rolling down the hill, so Drew decided to try it out.  Notice how he is not letting his head touch the ground... Mallory squatted down and then decided she didn't want any part of it because she didn't want her hands touching the grass.  She even managed to get up from sitting on the ground without using her hands. LOL

There was a dad at the park that brought his guitar.  He was playing it a bit, and Mallory said "That a rock star??"  Julie and I were cracking up!! Too funny.

Let's just say this has not been the best week I've ever had.  I bought a $300 vacuum, only to spend $450 a few days later to fix the garage door.  I come home this evening and the garage door is broken... again! I FINALLY got the etsy package I was waiting on (coordinating fall outfits for the kiddos), but had to send back Brady's t-shirt because it wasn't the same brown as Drew's.  Yes, I am picky, but Bryan even noticed the difference, and that's saying something!  Wednesday night, Brady had another baseball game.  He struck out all three times at the plate, so it wasn't too fun.  I'm considering getting a sitter for Sunday's game so I can actually watch the game instead of trying to keep Mallory off the bleachers the whole time :(

Having said that, there were highlights to the week.  The weather has been enjoyable and it was fun taking the kiddos to the zoo on Monday.  I got in four days of jazzercise this week, although on Wednesday, the instructor's ipod died, and we had to do the entire set (minus the first two songs) with no music!  But, I digress.  All the kids are really enjoying school and doing well.  Brady's homework started this week - a book to read one day, a book "report" on it the next.  Since it is now October, I'm sure the countdown to his birthday will swing into high gear.  He's already asked a few times when Zack can have the sleepover I promised...
