Mallory in the morning, part 2

This is how I found her the other day. When I got her shirt untangled, her paci fell out...lol.

I tried to post this pic many times. For whatever reason, it is showing up in the right place in iphoto, but when I try to find it through blogger, it is missing! It's very frustrating! I ended up emailing it to myself and saving it in my documents. One of the things we have yet to figure out is how to save the picture somewhere else than where it is imported...

This week...

I'm looking forward to:
  • reading Evanovich's latest book - assuming Karen gets done with it :)
  • seeing Eclipse!
  • scrapping
  • taking the kids to the summer camp movie
  • my mom taking the kids to Schlitterbahn
  • Drew's birthday
  • a long weekend!
I'm not looking forward to:
  • trying to motivate myself to work out at home
  • the evenings without Bryan!
Drew came to ask me this morning if it was his birthday :) I think it's because I told him several times yesterday that his birthday was only a week away, and I forget that he doesn't understand the difference between days and weeks the way that Brady does. He didn't seem too disappointed to find out it wasn't today, so I didn't feel too bad...lol.

All in all, it was a pretty good week. The boys enjoyed vacation bible school, and I enjoyed a couple hours of quiet each afternoon once Mallory settled down for her nap. I was able to scrap quite a bit during that time, so that was nice. Today was my last day of boot camp. I improved quite a bit on my push-up test and mile run, which made me happy. Next week is going to be a slow week for exercise since Bryan will be out of town, but I'm hoping to get back into a jazzercise routine the following week.

Both Grandmas will most likely visit while Bryan is gone, but we will definitely keep busy either way. It's almost impossible to believe that it is practically July and only a week until Drew's birthday! I think I'm excited as he is :) It's really the first birthday he truly understands, and he is really looking forward to it!

Miracle

A miracle has occurred! I was just sitting at the kitchen table with the kids to have a snack, and all three of them requested a piece of my apple. Of course, I didn't think Drew would eat any more than the smallest bite known to man, but I ended up cutting a second apple because he ate about 10 slices. All I can hope is that he doesn't change his mind tomorrow and decide he doesn't like it! Brady has also come to the conclusion he likes apple again and is planning on eating more with his dinner :)

Recent layouts

I've done these over the past few weeks...

I'm missing the journaling on this layout of the boys' new room, but we don't have the iwork software installed on the new computer yet.

The valentine card pulls out and then is hidden under Drew's pic...

I scraplifted this layout from creating keepsakes - I thought the egg pics were fun! I'm glad I printed them before changing computers, though. I'm going to have to figure out the best way to print my pics until I have photoshop again...

Mallory in the morning

Not sure why she's starting doing this - hopefully a week from now the diaper won't be on the floor every morning!

FYI - I'm happy to report I'm posting from my new computer... now all I need to do is get photoshop again so I can start scrapping on it:)

Karate

I took the boys this evening to try out their first karate class. Brady mentioned a few weeks ago that he was interested in trying it. We don't do sports in the summer simply because the heat is too brutal, so I thought this might be a good time to try it out... in the air conditioning! I called Julie and let her know about it, so Zack came and tried it out, too.

Drew was SO CUTE to watch! He was a little shy, so they let Brady go out with him to make him more comfortable. It was so funny to watch him try everything out - he obviously doesn't have the coordination that Brady has, I'm sure in part because he is younger but also because he is smaller, I think. That didn't matter to him, though. He enjoyed the class and we will be taking advantage of one more free class to make sure that he will be ok without Brady by his side.

Brady told me twice, if not three times, that he was ready to sign up. I told him there was no hurry, but that we would plan on going to the next few intro (i.e. free) classes and then sign up at that point.

The best part of the outing was on the way to class. Drew asked me in the car, "What kind of shoes am I going to wear?" I told him that it didn't matter because he would take his shoes off while he was practicing karate. His reply was, "But, then how am I going to break the wood??" Too funny!!

FYI - you won't be seeing any pics for a while. We are going on Friday to buy a new computer but then I'll have to figure out how to use it...lol.

Allie's birthday

We went to a party yesterday at Greg and Leslie's house - their little girl is celebrating her 2nd birthday. Apparently, Allie loves Dora and Elmo like Mallory does and she loves to swim. The boys had a great time in the pool, but Mallory spent over an hour either sitting in my lap, walking around the pool, or snacking. When there was literally five minutes left of swim time, she finally decided to get in the pool with Daddy. She had a great time for those five minutes...lol. I was happy she finally took the plunge, though, because I'm planning on taking the kids to the neighborhood pool this week, and I'm hoping she will remember that she likes it!

Exciting day!

Brady was THRILLED to lose his first tooth today!! It has been loose for a long time, and he has been talking about it for months. He was disappointed a couple of weeks ago because he thought it would be loose enough to come out before our trip to Chicago - he wanted to be able to show Uncle Marc his new smile...lol. The tooth hung on a while longer, though. This morning he knew that his friend Zack was coming over for a playdate, and he was determined to get it out before then. He was working on it, trying to loosen it up more when it popped out! He was not only excited that it was out, but also that he pulled it out on his own.

On a different note, Mallory had a little surprise of her own for me today. She was uncooperative about taking a nap, which is unusual. I went in a couple of times to give back her blankie and paci, and then left her for probably another 15-20 minutes before I went back in. This time, I found not only her blankie and paci on the floor, but also her pants and diaper! LOL I did NOT laugh in her presence, I'd like for you to know! Thank goodness the diaper and her crib were still dry... needless to say, it could have been a very different outcome.

A few forgotten pics

Not sure why I neglected to post these after Brady's party last week... maybe because the computer has been uncooperative.

Sometimes it's difficult to smile when you're stuffing your face with cookie!
When it was time for Brady's class to play a game, Mallory joined right in.

Mallory update

These are the "bows" Mallory picked to wear today... not that it mattered - she pulled them off within a couple minutes. We normally get dressed at home, and then she removes her shoes, socks, bows, and pigtail holders while we're in the car so we have to get dressed all over again once we get wherever we're going.

I took Mallory to the doctor this morning. He wants me to continue the breathing treatments at home and gave her an antibiotic and prednisone to take care of all the sinus congestion and swelling in her throat and chest. She was more cooperative this morning, in part, I think, because both of her brothers were there to distract her. She almost fell asleep in the waiting room, so I was pleasantly suprised by her behavior once we went back to see the doctor. I did not ask whether he thought this might be a pattern she would fall into - getting the congestion, and then it leading to problems with breathing/asthma, but I know that is how it happens for me.

On another note, Mallory has learned how to tattle-tale...lol. The three kids were playing in the boys' room last night while Bryan and I were eating dinner. I could hear that one of them had upset her, and she came running into the kitchen. "Drew hit" she told me. Brady came out to tattle on him, too, and as he was telling his version, Mallory added - "hiney."
Apparently this was an accurate report as Brady tells us he spanked her on the bottom. It was pretty funny, although I know the humor will probably wear off pretty quickly!

The day started off so well...

can you see where I'm going with that?? lol

Today was a jazzercise day, so I got to sleep in until 6:30 a.m. - woo hoo! I dropped Brady off at NASA for his star wars camp (he was beyond excited!), ran to Shipley's to get donuts, went to jazzercise, then took Mallory and Drew to Chuck E. Cheese. Thankfully, Drew was excited enough about going to Chuck E. Cheese that he didn't get upset when I dropped Brady off. Mallory didn't have much interest in playing/riding anything - she was happy to put the "money" in for Drew. I remember when that's all Drew wanted to do, too...

When we got home and I put Mallory in her chair for lunch, I thought she felt a little warm. Normally that wouldn't concern me, but with pneunomia in the not so distant past, I decided I should go ahead and check her temperature. It was a low grade fever, so I didn't give her anything. But, of course, when she got up from her nap, she felt warmer. Her temp was more like 101, so I went ahead and gave her some advil. She has had a cough for the last couple weeks, and we pulled out the nebulizer this weekend to start giving her breathing treatments again. Today she was coughing a lot more, and by this evening, she sounded awful! I was already debating about taking her to the doctor this afternoon, now I will definitely be calling in the morning. To me, her chest sounds just like mine when my asthma is acting up, so I'm interested to see what the doctor will say...

To top that off, Detroit is limping around on his back leg. If he doesn't look better tomorrow, I guess I'll be taking him in, too! What a lovely summer vacation...lol.

It's Sunday already?!?

I guess we did a few things this weekend, but I'm still surprised by how fast it flew by. Friday night I went out with a couple of girlfriends. We went to dinner, hit the mall, and went to see a movie - good times! Saturday night, Bryan took Brady to the Astros' game, and today we met my mom for lunch. I also booked Drew's birthday party and just ordered his invitations. Oh, I also did some scrapbooking last night... that always seems to make a few hours disappear before I know it!

Tomorrow is our first official day of summer since Brady's last day of school was Friday - whatever will we do??

Vacation snapshot

Getting ready to take off for Chicago...
Marc and Sheree made it in Friday night - the kids were all very excited to meet Reagan!
Our first outing together was to a local children's museum. This was basically a huge light brite - Drew and Daddy made yoda.
The look on Brady's face when he saw this Indiana Jones made entirely of legos was well worth the admission price to Legoland!
Sitting in the car, waiting for the rain and hail to subside so we could see the zoo. I have almost no pictures because the rain really didn't let up - we didn't make it to Navy Pier as planned because the weather just wasn't cooperative this day.
Out for ice cream after dinner - I'm pretty impressed with this pic of Bill and Mary and their grandkids.
Visiting Sue at the Field Museum - this was yesterday, and Drew and Mallory had pretty much had enough! I didn't expect Mallory to enjoy the museum, but I think Drew would have if he had bothered to stop whining about how tired he was...lol.

Happy to be home

As always, vacation went by too fast, it's good to be home, and it will be another week before I figure out what day it is... lol. Maybe even longer since Brady gets out of school this week and we will have to get into a new routine!

We had a great time and I have many pics to download. But, I've got no plans to unpack or do anything with pics tonight - we didn't get in until close to 8 p.m. and I've got to get up tomorrow at 4:30 a.m. for my first day of boot camp. Good thing I signed up before I left... you forget how tired you are after traveling!
