Cookies with Santa

Having some cookies while we wait our turn to see Santa :)

Drew had this smile plastered on his face the whole time he was on Santa's lap - too funny!  Brady told Santa he has been good, that we would be mailing our letter to him tomorrow, and that he wants a hermit crab.

I'm pretty happy with this one... except for the brick wall and the fact that Santa looks a little tipsy.

I threw Mallory in there at the last second - this was about the reaction I expected.  "I not sit on Santa's lap," she told me.

It's the most wonderful time of the year...

I love the few weeks after Thanksgiving, before Christmas. I love all the decorations and Christmas music. I love that I have already done most of my shopping, so I am free to enjoy the season.  Bryan got the lights up outside yesterday, and almost all of the decorations in the house are done. The kids decorated their little trees tonight, and we are having cookies with Santa tomorrow evening at church.  I've already promised that we will decorate a gingerbread house this weekend, since we don't have any set plans :)

The Grinch

Mary, Holly, and I took Hannah, Rachel, and Brady to see How the Grinch Stole Christmas this evening.  I was really looking forward to going, but not looking forward to driving :(  Bryan helped me decide which garage to park in and find a few maps to print out...just in case.  The maps were well used - we got a little turned around coming out of the garage on foot.  But, the trafffic wasn't bad at all, so it actually ended up being a good experience.  The kids seemed to really enjoy the show.  They didn't have an intermission, which I think worked out well.  We went to eat afterwards, and still made it home around 8:30 p.m. from a 5 p.m. show.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner

Mmmm... corn!

Luke was SO tired, he literally fell asleep at the table.

Meant to take a pic with me in it after dinner, but never got around to it. Oh well!

Time to work off the sugar high from dessert

Dewberry Farms

We had lots of fun at Dewberry Farms today.  It was really windy, so excuse our hair in some of these pictures. lol  I took around 150 pictures, so there are a bunch of cute ones.  I shot in continuous mode, which means sometimes I took 3-5 of basically the same shot. But, it allowed me to get one good shot of Grandma and Grandpa with their grandkids - everyone was looking forward except one, so I was able to take her head from another shot where she was facing forward and swap it out :)

First pic of the day - not too shaby!

A look into the day's activities...

Riding the corn "train"

 Attempting to rope a calf

Riding out to see the Christmas trees

Testing out the tractors

Taking some fun pics

 Shooting the corn cannon

Going down the pipe slide

Riding on toys that were meant for children (not just adults that act like children, Uncle Scott)

Having fun with our cousins

Making a graceful landing after playing in the fort

My "after" shot of Bill & Mary with their grandkids (minus Dawson and Reagan, of course)

Tomorrow, the men are off to go camping with all the kids, minus Mallory.  The woman are going shopping and relaxing... as much as we can with Mallory in tow, that is!

Let the games begin!

Scott and Holly got into town this afternoon.  We met them over at Bryan's parents' house, and the kids spent a few hours running around together.  Tomorrow we are visiting Dewberry Farms, and I am planning on taking too many pictures. lol

We left to head back to our house a little after 9:00 p.m.  Drew and Brady fell asleep within 5 minutes or so of being in the car.  It is now 10:26 p.m. and Mallory is awake in her crib, singing her ABC's.  Why am I not surprised??

Thanksgiving Feast

I had lunch with Drew at school today to celebrate Thanksgiving - the kids either made pilgrim or indian hats, and they made their own placemats.  The pic of him wearing the turkey on his head is too funny!

Although there was plenty of food, Drew didn't have much of a feast himself.  He turned down turkey, cheese, carrots, and grapes.  He accepted some apple slices, some type of roll (looked like it had powdered sugar on the top), and a meatball.  I feel certain he had NO idea it was meat - all he heard was that there was chocolate on top (ever heard of a meatball with chocolate? I haven't!).  He didn't eat the whole thing, but he did eat more than one bite, so I was surprised!  The apples ended up being too "mushy" for his liking.. not sure if that was the exact word he used, but it was something along those lines :)

Here is the picture I took of Mallory today - she requested I take it after I took one of Drew in his hat.  Looking cute as usual!  We've gotten lots of compliments on the boots...lol.

Brady would like everyone to know he earned a yellow strip this week at karate.  We've been practicing at home, so he was well prepared!  Tonight, we are sitting down and working on thank you notes from his birthday.  We took this picture to show some of his friends the lego set he was able to buy with his birthday money.

Princess Mallory

When I got my new photo necklace a few weeks ago, I was so happy with it that I decided to ask Jessica to make something for Mallory.  Here is what she came up with - http://www.etsy.com/listing/62167870/reserved-custom-soldered-necklace-for

Mallory saw the picture of herself when I was checking my email one day and got all excited about it :)  I specifically asked for black, white, and pink because her wardrobe seems to indicate a fondness for hot pink with zebra...lol.

Template challenge

I happened upon a template challenge when I was reading theShabbyShoppe's blog a couple of weeks ago.  I am relatively new to their store and blog, but thought it sounded like a fun thing to try.  Of course, I have no hopes of winning - not because my layout isn't good, but because the winner is picked at random.  I have NO luck at such things!!

Here's the template -

And here is my layout -

I used pics that Tasha took of Karen's girls - what's not to like?

September layout

Another Project 12 sketch - not sure why I did October a few weeks ago and am just now getting around to doing September.  It's a matter of motivation, I guess!  Here is the sketch:

And, here is what I did with it -

Long awaited pics...

I've been wanting to take pics of the kids in these outfits ever since I ordered them back at the end of August.  The combination of our schedule and how long it took to get Brady's shirt made it difficult to do before now.  We left the house yesterday evening, intending to take pics at Helen's Gardens in League City before we headed out to a birthday party. Unfortunately, when we got to the gardens, there was a sign saying the place was reserved.  I was rather irritated - I really wanted a "green" background... we went across the street to the park, and it was not nearly as green as I hoped :(  But, with limited time before the party, there wasn't much I could do!
