Another sketch challenge...

I came across a new blog a few weeks ago for Imaginisce.  It is a scrapbooking company that I had heard of in the past, but really wasn't familiar at all with their products.  Apparently, they have a sketch challenge every month, and December's just happened to be one that I really liked -

I was quite excited to discover that I had already purchased a few papers from their Cottage Christmas line. So, I took a break from my digital scrapping and came up with this -

I had no plans on what to use for the title, but I love the way it turned out!
It's much easier to see in person, doesn't get "lost" as much as it does in the pictures.

I had this page done several days before Christmas.  I would normally take pics right away but decided to wait and take a few while the sun was out.  Flash forward to today... I finally take the pictures, thinking that my submission is due tomorrow.  I was quite disappointed to find out I missed the deadline by three days!  The "counter" at the bottom of the post where the sketch is located (and where you put a link to your page) says there are still 23 hours left, but in reality the deadline was the 27th :(

I'm still happy I used the sketch, but there were some really awesome prizes I could have won! lol

Hermie and Incredible Hulk

I went by the pet store today and picked up a hermit crab for Drew and one for Brady.  They were VERY unsure of picking them up and weren't willing to let the crabs walk on their hands.  But, they had a great time watching them run around on the floor and kept checking up on them once they were in their habitat.

This is Incredible Hulk.  I thought that Drew was
going to name him Mr. Crabs, which I liked.  Apparently,
sometime yesterday Bryan was throwing out other
name suggestions and said the Incredible Hulk if he was green.
So, when I brought his guy home, that ended up
being his name.  I tried to talk Drew back into Mr. Crabs,
but it was a no go!

Sea World San Antonio

The kids got tickets to Sea World as one of our Christmas presents to them.  Brady was quite excited when he found out it was only a matter of days before we would be going.  We left pretty early yesterday morning, spent the day at Sea World, and then stayed the night at a hotel nearby.  When we got up this morning, it was raining, so it worked out well!

The kids spent most of the day eating, lol.

Mallory watching her Sesame Street friends on stage

Hopefully, we will make it back to see the new
Sesame Street Bay of Play while Mallory
is still interested - it opens in 76 days.

Drew's first roller coaster ride :)  He complained afterwards
that he kept hitting his head, but he was definitely
smiling and laughing during the ride.

Mallory guzzling some hot chocolate - she
couldn't get enough!

The boys both picked a stuffed Shamu as their souvenir.

Before we even left the hotel this morning, Brady wanted to know when we were going to the pet store to get hermit crabs for him and Drew.  To be fair, I did tell him we would get them after our trip to Sea World... as usual, he figured it wasn't too early to start asking!

As usual...

I am unable to upload my video to blogger.  So, if you'd like to see it, you need to visit me on facebook :) It's a little longer than usual, but we did lots of fun stuff in December!

Merry Christmas!

A few pics from Christmas Eve...

Brady finding out that we are going to
Sea World on Monday

Presents from Uncle Marc and family

Mallory asked Jingles (our elf) the other day
for a "Dora present" - I guess she got her wish!

When she got up this morning, I told her Santa
had come. She ignored that and told me she wanted
to play with her Dora house.. good thing I had moved
it into the playroom :)

The boys watching me open their present - a
Bon Jovi t-shirt and cd.  We immediately put the cd
in and they rocked out to "You Give Love
A Bad Name," which they discovered on lego
Rock Band.

Presents from Santa

Brady couldn't believe he actually got a bb gun!

Drew had never seen this toy story playset before,
but he said it was his favorite gift... along with
Stinky the Garbage Truck.

Mallory and her FurReal puppy - he makes all kinds
of noises and can be walked on his leash.  The dogs
weren't too sure what to make of it. lol

All three kids got new pj's from Santa, and Mallory and Drew already changed into theirs - they were definitely a bigger hit than I would have thought.  We took some video when they came out and discovered their toys this morning, so I'll get that posted in the next day or two.

Project 12 sketch for December

My "take" on it!

I'm very happy with how this turned out! I used a digital kit I already had - Carolina Christmas by Melissa Bennett.  In case it's not obvious, this is a two page layout and the two pages will be split down the center, between the red patterned paper and picture of my mom and Mallory.

Cookies with Santa (2 page layout)

Digital kit - All That's Magical by Traci Reed and Meghan Mullens
"Cookies with Santa" is based on the Dec. 14th Cookies for Kids sketch at Sweet Shoppe Designs
"Naughty or Nice" is based on a template by Cindy Schneider -

November layout (using Project 12 sketch from Scrapbook & Cards Today)

The sketch was pretty simple, but I like the way it turned out!  It felt a little weird to pull out
my "traditional" scrapbooking supplies since I've been on a digital kick lately...

Visit to the doctor

Mallory has been running a fever off and on for the past week or so.  I probably would have let it go another day or two, but she was complaining that her ears hurt and Christmas is fast approaching!  I was surprised that her fever was 102.3 at the doctor's office.  This, coupled with the fact that the fever has been around a week, made the doctor want to do blood work.  Her white cell count was a little high, so that led to a nasal swab (to verify it wasn't the flu) and a chest x-ray.  None of these things were pleasant, but Mallory was awful for the x-ray.  Not sure I understand why - she's done one probably four times now with her having pneumonia this year.  You would think she would remember that there is no pain or discomfort involved.  Apparently, that doesn't matter because she hates it!

The good news is that her swab and x-ray looked good, so it comes back to the original diagnosis of a virus.  Unfortunately, we have to go back in tomorrow morning for a recheck.  I did take the boys with me today, thankfully, they were well behaved.  Bryan will be at home tomorrow, though, so at least I will be able to just take her for the second visit.  I had planned a trip to the Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens tomorrow, but I think I will try to take the boys to see a movie instead, and let Mallory stay home with Daddy.

Christmas, round two

Mallory was so funny today - she was "oohing" and "aahing"
over presents before she could even see what they were!

She went around and helped everyone with their
presents, too - except the boys, of course.

Checking herself out on Grandma's new calendar

One of Mallory's gifts was a dress-up trunk.  Here
she is sporting a pair of shoes and bracelet.

Drew LOVED his monster trucks that he could
decorate with stickers and paint.

Brady got a wood workshop kit - unfortunately, it was missing
pieces and had to be exchanged for a second one. The
second one wasn't much better, but they made do!

Christmas Festivities

Mallory at her holiday breakfast - unfortunately, she woke up
on the wrong side of the bed this morning and didn't
want to go to school.  I was pretty disappointed because I was
looking forward to hearing her sing, and she wasn't interested :(

In her music class - normally she is a "performer," but not
today.  She perked up just a little for Wish you a Merry Christmas
but other than that, just sat there. Oh well!

At Brady's holiday party, they had different stations where you
could make crafts.  This one was fingerprint art.

I recruited Grandma to come to his party because it overlapped
with Mallory's, and at the time, I thought I would be enjoying
listening to Mallory singing. lol

Exchanging gifts with Julie and Zack - Zack was just a tad
excited about his present!

Trying out Zack's new beyblades

Drew got a new dry erase center - one of his favorite pastimes
is drawing and practicing his letters with his markers, so
this is right up his alley.

Festival of Lights

Ignore the red eye, please. I don't feel like fixing it. lol

With Daddy out of town, we invited Julie and Zack
to visit the Festival of Lights in Dickinson

Less than a minute after we got there, Mallory
fell down and scraped her knee :( She's a trooper, though!

Gig 'Em!

The kids liked this "castle" of lights - there was music playing
close by and they were dancing around.  They had other kids
joining in on the fun, too.

Not quite the shot I wanted, considering I cut
off most of "Christmas" - at least the year is visible!

A couple new layouts...

I've been planning for a few months to do a layout on my
parents's 40th anniversary, but didn't know what to do.
When I ran across this free template yesterday, I knew it would work!
Autumn Mosaic by Meghan Mullens (digital kit)
Cookies for Kids template Dec. 13
both from Sweet Shoppe Designs

I'm excited about these "newspaper" templates!  They are perfect
when you want to journal quite a bit.  Wouldn't it be awesome
to do one every year for the same occasion and then put them
together in an album?
