The "real" circus

We took the kids to see the Ringling Brothers circus yesterday.  As always, it's fairly cheap to get in, but everything there costs a fortune!  I try to remind myself that we only go the circus once a year, so it's not the end of the world. lol

Must have - a light up spin toy to annoy everyone around you
(mainly just dad, lol)

Just what we need - more swords! Notice I didn't say no, though.

Brady's favorite - setting this guy on fire, then launching
him from the catapult

$10 snocone

Mallory said everything was her favorite, but
I think the snocone and her new toy stood out to
her more than any of the acts!

I think my favorite was the elephants...

Actually, my favorite is probably this layout I just finished!  This circus kit came out a couple months ago, and I was so excited about it :)  It's fortunate that I was able to use it twice, too.

At the big top - Traci Reed
Cindy Schneider - single 17
color spectrum alpha - Julie Billingsley

same as above, but a different Cindy template (trio pack 1)

On the way home yesterday, Brady was already planning another circus at home.  I'm curious to see if he loses interest or if we're in for another performance!

Circus performance

Brady did Mallory's clown make-up before the show started -

First up, magic tricks!  This one is Brady
making a ball disappear.

Pulling some rabbits from Brady's hat

Next up, clowns!  Brady ditched his top hat and added some
green to his hair.  The first bit was making a lot of noise, then
pretending to hit each other and fall down.

The finale was a food fight.  COOOOOOOOOORN!!

Taking a bow :)

Posing for their audience

I was very impressed by how well Mallory did - she did a few of her own magic tricks and followed along exactly as Brady told her.  It was obviously they actually DID practice what they were going to do!

Brady & Mallory's famous circus

I put our schedule up for the week yesterday, and Brady was very excited to see we will be going to the circus on Sunday.  He immediately decided that he and Drew should put on a circus here at the house.  His first task was making a sign for their door - "Room Closed" and on the other side "Room Open."  When the closed sign is up, they are practicing for the show.

Mallory was unhappy about being left out and asked me to make her own sign which says, "Brady not allowed." She said it was ok for Drew to come in because he doesn't mess her room up.  However, several hours later Drew must have been irritating her because I was instructed to add his name to the sign. lol

Here's what I know about the circus so far -
1. it's scheduled for Saturday, July 21 at 3 p.m.
2. there will be a food fight and clowns that have painted faces
3. the dogs were going to be included but were too uncooperative (no surprise there!)
4. you need a ticket to attend - Brady gave one to Mallory for free and then tried to charge me a quarter.  I don't think so!
5. Drew has backed out so Mallory is his replacement... for today anyway.  We'll see what happens the rest of the week.
6. Brady suggested the name "Brady & Mallory's fabulous circus" then Mallory decided that "famous" was better.  I was pretty impressed with her suggestion :)

I've been...

a scrapping fool this week! No idea why I've been so motivated, but I think I've done 8-9 layouts (which is unheard of!). Normally, I'm lucky to get 3 done.  But, hey, I'm not complaining!  Here's a few I haven't shared yet...

Life, Love, and Liberty

I had a hard time deciding which patriotic kit to use for this layout - there were too many good ones to choose from! I had pretty much settled on one, then decided on this one instead.  So glad I did because I love the way it turned out! I really like the yellow in there :)

Palm Beach

We took the kids to Palm Beach Thursday evening.  I like going at night for several reasons - it's cheaper to get in, you don't have to mess with sunscreen, you can walk on the sand without burning your feet, etc.  There are several days a week where they are either showing a family movie or they have "Bands on the Sand" and those are the days where you can get in for a reduced price after 6 p.m.  Of course, the kids weren't in bed until 10:30 p.m. by the time we got home and showered, but I knew that would be the case going in so it wasn't a big deal.

As I expected, Mallory wanted no part of any of the slides.  She HATES getting water in her face.  She agreed to go on the lazy river, but I was very careful to avoid all the water sprays.  She spent a good portion of her time playing in the sand, while her brothers spent most of their time in the water with Bryan.

Some fun candles on Drew's cake... they sparkled a bit - enough that he backed away in his chair.  It took him many tries to blow them out, but he finally did it! No telling how much spit landed on the cake, though. lol

This was the kids' first time with sparklers.  They were
fine with the 3 ft. long ones, but wanted no part of
the shorter ones... pretty much what I expected!

I had fun playing around my camera :)  Good thing I had it set up and ready to go because I doubt we were outside more than 10 minutes.  Brady managed to burn his foot (not sure if a piece fell off, he stepped on something, or what), and the mosquitos were HORRIBLE!  We had several torches burning, but it didn't seem to help.  Brady reported 15 bites on one leg this morning.  I'm sure at least a few were old, but most of those were from last night :(
