Disneyworld, day 5

Today was our last day at the Magic Kingdom.  It was significantly more crowded than when we first arrived, but Disney really knows how to do things right - I think the longest we waited for anything was about half an hour.  The only new ride on the agenda was Splash Mountain.  Scott brought raincoats for the kids, and Grandpa volunteered to ride with them.  The first shift was Grandpa, Hannah, Drew, and Luke.  Later in the day, he went back and rode with Brady and Rachel.

The kids were excited to meet Peter Pan :)

Once we got the photopass, they were always scheming
what to do for the photo...

Sportin' her new ears

Our first time to see the park at night...

The only disappointment for me was not getting to see the fireworks from Main Street.  We watched them from another area of the park, which was certainly better than not seeing them at all.  When we got back to the park this evening, people were already lined up on Main Street at 7 p.m. for the 9 p.m. parade. So, we opted to go to a different area and watch the parade from there.  We could have made our way to the front after that for the fireworks but we opted to do one more ride instead... seemed like a good decision considering how crowded we knew it would be.  Just something on my list for next time!

I got sidetracked...

I was going to come back daily and do a posts about the rest of our trip, but I'm just realizing I forgot to do it yesterday! Probably because I left the house at 4:30 p.m. and didn't get home until after 11 p.m.  Tonight we have a holiday dinner, so maybe tomorrow?

I did get all of our photos from Disney, here is the best group shot we got -

Disneyworld, day 4

Another day at the Magic Kingdom today.  First on the agenda was getting fastpasses to Space Mountain.  Scott and Bryan went with the older kids to get them while the rest of us ended up at Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor.  From there, we all rode Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.  When the time for our fastpasses arrived, Drew was really not wanting to be left out of riding Space Mountain.  We decided to check and see if he was tall enough, and he just made the cut :)  He ended up riding it twice in a row, so apparently he liked it!  A big difference from the kid who didn't want to ride the Haunted Mansion ride literally two days ago...

All the kids were interested in riding the Tomorrowland Speedway, so that was next on our list.  Mary and I stayed behind and I was able to get pictures of everyone "driving."

After lunch, we knocked out some of the rides for the little ones, including Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo, and Ariel's Undersea Adventure - we had ridden all of these before, but Mallory and Luke continually reminded us of the rides they wanted to do again since we left the Magic Kingdom the first day.  Throw in a train ride and another spin on Buzz Lightyear's ride, and it was time to head to Downtown Disney for our dinner reservation.

Disneyworld, day 3

Day 3 was spent exploring Animal Kingdom.  We had another character breakfast this morning, this time at the Tusker House.  On our way in, we took a picture with Donald dressed in his safari gear.  Amazingly, the picture of all twelve of us came out great!  We got a lot of compliments on our shirts today, both from the workers at Disney and from random guests.  (FYI - I can't post the pic of all of us until I get my photopass cd)

We had high hopes for Brady this morning.  He looked much better and was acting like his usual self.  Unfortunately, after eating a waffle and doughnut for breakfast (not a smart choice!), he was back to feeling sick.  I've discovered that buffets are not the greatest for my kids, esp. in the morning... too many things they like that aren't really good for them, and not enough healthy stuff they do like, since they are picky.

Our first ride this morning was the Kilimanjaro Safari. It tousled Brady's stomach around a bit, but nothing he couldn't manage.  The big ride here was Expedition Everest.  The men and Hannah and Rachel went on it - we decided it was best if Brady stayed behind with the rest of us.  He was definitely teary-eyed over that, but a few hours later he was feeling well enough to go on some other rides in Dinoland including Primeval Whirl and Dinosaur.  The younger kids enjoyed the Triceratop Spin and spent a good amount of time in the Boneyard playground.  We also watched the Lion King show and ended the day at Conservation Station where the kids got to pet an alligator and meet Rafiki.

Disneyworld, day 2

Today was our day at Epcot.  Unfortunately, Test Track is closed, so the first ride on our list was Soarin'.  We got fastpasses for it, then headed over to The Seas with Nemo and Friends.  We spent some time looking at the aquariums there, and then did Turtle Talk with Crush.  From  there, we rode Soarin' and then made our way to the World Showcase for our lunch reservations.  While Brady felt a little better this morning (good enough to not get left behind, anyway), he was fading fast.  By the time we were done with lunch, he was ready to head back to the hotel for a nap.  We all decided to head back, and while Brady napped, the rest of the kids went swimming.  Surprisingly, Mallory stayed in the pool the longest.  When it was time to get out, she resisted even though she'd probably been in the pool a good two hours.

Found out that Rachel got to meet Daisy... and he didn't

We headed back to Epcot for dinner at the German restaurant, and had time to ride the Maelstrom in Norway on the way over.  After dinner, it was time for the light and fireworks show.  It wasn't nearly as crowded as we expected, so that was nice.  We took our time making it back to the bus, and took some pictures with the holiday display of Mickey and Minnie.  It was late by the time we made it home, and I didn't look forward to getting the kids up early the next morning!

Disneyworld, here we come!

We all arrived in Orlando Thursday night.  Our first stop other than our hotel was dinner at Chef Mickey.  It was a character dinner, meaning some of the Disney characters circulated during dinner, taking pictures and signing autographs.  Mallory was very excited to meet everyone.  We saw Donald, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto.Goofy was the best - there was an empty seat at our table, and he sat in it.  He put his napkin in his shirt as if he was sitting down to eat, then stole Mallory's plate and pretended to eat her food.  The kids thought that was pretty funny :)

Unfortunately, Brady got sick to his stomach towards the end of dinner and threw up in the bathroom.  He felt better afterwards and chalked it up to eating too much.  The next morning, he seemed fine.

Friday was our first day at Magic Kingdom.  We got to the park early and had another character meal.  This time the kids had autograph books.  I asked if they wanted them before our trip, and they said no.  Of course, once they saw some of the characters and saw that their cousins had autograph books, they wanted them.   After breakfast, we headed for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.  It is Bryan's favorite ride from his childhood, and he was excited to take the kids on it.  Brady loved it. Mallory cried for the first part, then started enjoying it about halfway through.  Drew said he liked it but opted not to go again.  The rest of the morning we spent riding Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Peter Pan's Flight. After lunch, things started to go downhill.  Brady was feeling sick to his stomach again, so much so that he asked to come back to the hotel.  Grandma was nice enough to offer to come back with him, and the rest of us stayed at the park a few more hours.  We rode some of the rides designed more for Luke and Mallory, like Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo, and the carousel.  We were also able to ride one of the new attractions in Fanastyland - Ariel's Undersea Adventure.

We came back to the hotel late afternoon, and had dinner here.  Brady slept off and on for most of the afternoon and ate very little.  It was very bizarre - the fact that he felt fine that morning, and was sick again by the afternoon.  All we could do was hope he would be feeling better in the morning!

Halloween Time, oh my!

It's too bad there wasn't an egyptian themed kit I could use for this! However, I picked up this Halloween Time kit for a steal, and I think the little monsters/creatures in it are super cute :)

Riding bikes

I'm loving the kit I used for this page!  It was just a nice coincidence that the boys' shirts actually fit into the color scheme :)  Brady is riding his bike every day after school now... he's an old pro.  As I mentioned on facebook a couple weeks ago, he removed the training wheels off Drew's bike, and Drew hasn't been on it since their one attempt to go around the block with Brady helping him.  He has mentioned several times this week that he would like to go out with Daddy this weekend to work on learning, so we'll see what happens.
