Memorial Day

Here's what I've accomplished today -

Nothing out of the ordinary today - we just enjoyed the fact that we didn't HAVE to do anything! The boys played with their friends as usual. Bryan finally made it out shopping and bought some new clothes.  Mallory and I hung out at the house all day. We grilled hamburgers for dinner, and we're about to sit down and watch a movie.  I nailed down a date for Drew's birthday party next month, so that will be the next thing on my list to work on :) We've decided to go with a lego theme.  I told Mallory she needs to make a decision on her party theme soon.  She's all over the map - anything from Scooby-Doo to Spongebob to Bubble Guppies are ideas she's thrown out.  I'm pushing for Bubble Guppies or Doc McStuffins, but who knows how much influence I will have? lol

Brady's field day

Field day in third grade is an all day affair.  Brady still had a sunburn on his back and shoulders from a couple hours at the pool this weekend, so I made sure to slather on the sunscreen before he left and reapplied it twice while I was there.  Thankfully, there was a breeze and also a canopy for the kids to rest under.

The first events were running - he ran the 50, 75, and 100 yard dash.  He was happy to win his heats of two of the three races (he went against one other kid from each class, so 6 in each heat).

Later in the day, he participated in dribble mania, jump rope, softball toss, and the mile relay.  I'll let you guess which event was his favorite...

I'm not sure that anyone threw the ball farther than him - he was definitely happy with his performance, lol.  However, his class came in fifth in the mile relay, and he was disappointed to know that overall his class would not win field day.  He's nothing if not competitive!

In case you missed it on facebook - here is a pic of Bryan and Brady after the championship game last weekend.  Brady's team won the city championship for his division!  Unfortunately, Brady came down with a virus the day before the game and wasn't able to play.  He was, at least, able to go to the game and get this trophies afterwards.

She only wants to take a picture when
it has nothing to do with her, of course!
She's pretending to bat, if you are wondering.

Preschool graduation

Mallory has four days left of school! She is very excited about all the activities they have planned this week, esp. tomorrow's which is playing in the mud.  I'm wondering how muddy she will actually get - it's not as if any of my children actually enjoy getting dirty, lol.  But, she seems to think she's going to have a grand time!  I look forward to hearing about it :)

Friday was her preschool graduation.  They've been working for quite a while on their songs, so I was happy to see her participate.  It's not unusual for her to clam up when I'm around...

She's kind of wedged in (esp. for the first song) between two kids, but she's to the right of the boy with the red shirt.

They did a great job decorating the stage -

She looked very unsure about walking across the stage,
but felt better after she heard (and saw) me cheering for her.

Mother's Day

I got this tote for Mother's Day, so I let
Mallory "borrow" my smaller purse :)

Definitely more cooperative for this type of pose...

Celebrating

Bryan's birthday was this past Wednesday. Unfortunately, he worked all day so all we had time to do was open gifts and go out to eat.  No baseball practice or a game, though, so that was a bonus.

From Mallory

Ever so helpful, lol

A rare treat for the dogs - licking the ice cream bowl

My day today :)  Bryan took my car and washed it yesterday, then added my Aggie decals to the back - they've been sitting around the house for quite a while.  I started off the morning with "breakfast in bed".  Mallory put together a bag for breakfast in bed at school - it had a small apple, cereal bar, packet of tea, and a napkin.  She brought it home several days ago and couldn't wait for me to eat it today :)  She came in three separate times this morning to see if I was ready to eat, then finally left it on my nightstand for when I woke up.

My real breakfast was from the local doughnut place, with the addition of a mimosa.  After that, I opened my gifts.  Seeing what the kids have made me is always a lot of fun!  No pictures of me opening them because I'm still in my pj's.

Card from Drew

This is part of a recipe book the first graders at Drew's school
brought home for their moms.

Brady wrote this poem at school - he was proud
to say that he didn't need any help with it :)

Mallory's gift

Brady and Mallory were in the same preschool class, just
four years apart.  Apparently, I've gotten 2 years younger in that time!
I also love that I've gone from taking care of Mallory all day to doing
jazzercise all day.

No big plans today, just relaxing around the house which probably means scrapbooking.  We're going to try to head out for an early dinner, and I'm sure I'll fit in some pictures somewhere!

Field Day

Drew had his field day this past week.  He was looking forward to it - it got cancelled the first time around because of the threat of bad weather, so it was good they were able to go through with it this time around.

Excited to be first!

It was fun to see the different attitudes of the kids. Drew
plays to win, but there were others who might as well
have been skipping (I think a few actually did, lol).

Not his favorite race, can't say I blame him :p

The kids were walking SOOOO slow - it was hilarious!

I had to leave to get Mallory, and another mom took a
few pics for me.  Not sure what they were doing here, but
apparently he liked it :)

Parties galore!

Mallory has been to a party five weekends in a row.  Four of them were classmates from school - I was amazed that we were able to fit them all in with Brady's baseball schedule!  They were all different, too, which was nice... not sure I could have tolerated several visits in a row to Chuck E. Cheese, lol.

Her friend Landon had a science party last Saturday, and the kids had a blast!  They were able to do several experiments on their own, and Landon's dad did some they were able to just watch.  I think making flubber was definitely a big hit -

Today was Sophia's pool party.  A bit of a traumatic day for Mallory... She got into the hot tub as I was blowing up her ring (she wore it all last summer in the pool to keep her afloat) and proceeded to slide off the ledge and go underwater.  She was flailing around, and luckily I was able to grab her without going in myself.  Half an hour later, one of the other moms wasn't as fortunate and had to jump in the big pool in her clothes :(  Not surprisingly, Mallory pretty much stayed out of the water after that.  But, they did have an inflatable slide/bouncy house she played in, and there was also someone making balloon animals so it wasn't a total loss.

She LOVES to be silly with Sophia!

Her balloon bunny (hard to see in the picture, but I was impressed)

Enjoying a snack with Sophia's little brother

Unfortunately, she got a splinter in her foot that we have yet to get out.  She let me pick at it some, but I had no luck - it's very visible, but not close to the surface.  We tried a couple times later, and she was a mess... even holding her down it was nearly impossible to even attempt to remove it.  I finally decided to let her sleep on it and reevaluate in the morning!
