Project Life

Doing some catching up! While I do collages/cards for project life all the time, I'm usually behind on having an entire month done. I just printed a few layouts and decided that it's time to get up to date.

Each month gets one front and one back - for example, this first layout (Family moments) I would label "March, back" because it will go after all the regular layouts I did in March.  Then, on the back of it will be "April, front".  While it looks like one big layout in this form, it's actually individual pieces in either 4x6 or 3x4 inch pieces.

Natural Bridge Caverns

I took the kids to San Antonio last weekend for a couple days. We picked up my mom along the way and visited with my aunt and grandma while we were there. We stayed at a hotel close to Natural Bridge Caverns - the kids love staying at any hotel, not quite sure what the fascination is there! Just something different I guess.  We got up early Sunday morning and headed out to Natural Bridge for the first tour of the day.

Trying out the canopy challenge...

Drew and my mom - I would have gone up with him,
but I was wearing flip flops so I had to stay down with Mallory.

"Panning" for gold (i.e. arrowheads and gems)

We also went to see Despicable Me 2, which the kids loved! No surprise there... of course, you also have to go swimming at the hotel pool a couple times to make the trip complete :)

Sneak peeks

Friday means time for sneak peeks over at the Sweet Shoppe! New releases come out on Saturday, so Friday is the day to "preview" what's in store.  This week, Cindy has two template packs releasing - here's what I did with them :)

Visit from the tooth fairy

Drew lost his first two teeth on Tuesday, courtesy of the dentist.  One of them has been loose for months, so we decided it might be better for them to go ahead and come out. His adult teeth are right behind, waiting to move into place.  Unfortunately, it's likely there isn't enough room for them to come forward so we're going to watch them for six months or so and then reevaluate.  Good news is, the dentist pulled them and he didn't feel a thing! lol

The tooth fairy brought him $7.  Brady usually gets $2 per tooth, but the first tooth is special and brings $5 :)

The circus is in town!

Mallory bought a new friend - Spots :)

The boys' favorite act - there are 8 motorcycles in there!

Dragons was the theme this year...

Got lucky and had my camera ready when the fireworks went off!

I know I've said this before, but the circus is quite expensive - not the tickets themselves, but everything else.  This year I decided to give each kid $20 to spend - if they wanted to spend more than that, it had to come from their own pocket.  Basically what that meant was that they all decided to pass on a toy and get more in the way of food (exactly what I was hoping!). Mallory was the only one to want something bad enough to spend the money on it (in the end, it actually didn't come out of her pocket but no one needs to know that, lol).  The amount I set was just enough to get a drink, a food item, plus a sno cone so it worked out well. Drew's friend had some money of his own, so he also got cotton candy and shared it with the boys.

Can you say excited?

I came home the other day and discovered an awesome email - my favorite template designer asking me to be on her creative team! I've been waiting on a call (where designers are actively looking for new team members) and have told myself over the past few months that I should email her and let her know I'm available... I figured it couldn't hurt, lol.  Needless to say, I'm thrilled! The list of teams I'd like to be on is very short - and her name has always been top of the list.

Here are the layouts I made for two of her products releasing tomorrow -

Swimming lessons

The boys started swimming lessons this week.  Mallory wasn't interested and I didn't push it... she thinks she knows how to swim anyway (regardless of the fact that she's wearing a flotation device when she does it, lol).  I am very proud of how they've done so far! Drew is really motivated to learn how to swim and enjoying the progress he is making.

About to go under... definitely not his favorite part!

Working on the backstroke

Brady knows how to swim, but I wouldn't say he's a strong swimmer.  I figured he'd prefer to be in the water rather than waiting on Drew to finish his lesson, so he signed up as well.  The instructor prefers that the kids don't wear goggles or a mask, so he's been without.  I'm surprised I haven't heard more complaints - I guess he's decided to can live without it for the time being.  He always wears a mask when we visit the pool, and I can't say I blame him!

I took these pics yesterday, and plan on bringing the camera again tomorrow.  The lessons last for two weeks - through Thursday of next week, provided the weather cooperates.

Drew is 7!

Drew decided last month that he wanted to go to Schlitterbahn for his birthday.  However, as the day got closer, he started talking about going to Palm Beach instead.  I tried to steer him away from that and promised we would go to Palm Beach later this month but on a night that it was open late.  I think his main hesitation is that he didn't enjoy the lazy river when we went last time and didn't want to have to do it again.  I assured him he wouldn't.  We tried a new ride right away - both Mallory and Drew were very leery but we didn't give them the chance to say no.  It turned out to be their favorite ride of the day and we rode it several times!

Bryan and Brady had fun trying out some other new rides, and they all enjoyed the wave pool which wasn't turned on when we went last month.  All in all, it was a great day - the weather was really nice and we were even a bit chilly at times with the wind blowing.

Drew got to call the shots - what rides we were going to do and when it was time to go.  We left around 3... he just couldn't wait any longer to come home and open his presents!  He was very happy to get an ipod touch to replace the one we had to throw away a few weeks ago (long story short, it got wet and couldn't be revived).  He also got a couple lego sets and an itunes gift card.  After cupcakes and some time to play with his new stuff, he chose to go to Chuy's for dinner.  He could care less about the food, but he loves the sopapillas!
